Diving

Items selected immersion, are the result of 20 years of research, and therefore worth a visit.
There are dives for all types and needs, (deep, night, wrecks, caves, walls, archaeological etc...)
The protection of and easy access from any direction makes it also offers a night dive without any problems. Some of these are made from the ground, supporting high cliffs, and others are made into a source of a river (the kidro) of rare beauty that flows into the sea.

SOME POINTS OF DIVING

The dive sites selected by us are 42 and start at a minimum to a maximum of -10 m - 40 m for experienced divers. The dive by nearly all within a few miles from the coast, thus avoiding long and tedious journeys by boat.

Some of these are:

THE CHIMNEY

At a depth of -5 m on a rocky step reaching down to -12 m full of coral formations, Parazoantus axinellae, Haliclona Mediterranean, and populated by colonies of damselfish.
Cave diving in the fireplace is ideal for the photographer, both for the novice diver as an opportunity to re-emerge at any time.

GARDENS

Diving at a depth of rich flora, where there are sea fans, and Sabella axinellae spallanzanii at a depth of -30 m. They are very easy encounters with rays, groupers and moray eels.

ISLAND OF CHIANCA

Around the Island chianca, from a depth of only -6 meters. descend along a wall, follow can enjoy a series of concrete bombs that were used for targeting the island during military exercises. Many of these are still intact.
During the dive we can easily find morays, octopus, Corvina, large sponges and Corallium rubrum. Diving very simple and suitable reeds for divers familiar with the equipment to be resumed after a break.

Cerianthus

Immersion in the cave "The cave of Cerianthus" Excellent for video filming and underwater photographs.

WRECK

Immersion between S. Isidore and Torre Inserraglio about 2 miles from the coast and at a depth of -33 meters. The wreck lies on the bottom of an American military ship, sunk during the Second World War.
There is little left of the wreck but some information we have learned that this ship was carrying food and supplies of military equipment (gas masks, paint, parts, etc..) Around the bulkhead and trees, encrusted by coralline algae, draws bryozoans, tunicates and sea fans, schools of amberjack (Seriola dumerilii), bonito (Sarda sarda), dorado (dolphin fish hippurus) and rare gases that are killing fish small Picarels and vogues. Within shelter lobsters and spider crab, while the various openings peep big congers and moray eels.

PARADISE

Now coming from Porto Cesareo we make our beloved dive underwater photographers and videographers.
At a depth of -26 meters. We can see small rocks in the sand, rich in sponges of various colors. Here sponges grow cane (Axninellae cannabina) that reach a length of 1.5 meters.
We can also see Pinna nobilis, Discordoris atromaculata (kip sea) Cladocora caespitosa (coral Mediterranean) and many other forms of life of many colors.

THE JUMP

Dive for the more experienced, to a maximum depth of - 45 meters high along a wall about 10 meters from where we can admire its inlets, lobsters, groupers and sponges of various colors. At the top you can see schools of barracuda.

ROMAN COLUMNS

Colonne Greco-Romane Height of the Tower Chianca lie just 5 -7 m depth a series of marble columns cipollino which are dated to the second century BC Belle to show even people who practice snorkeling.

CAVE OF CORVINA

Grotta delle Corvine Location Bay uluzzu. Predominantly horizontal development, about 50 meters. Underwater cave air with bells inside, so named for the massive presence of the beautiful fish that inhabit the cave most of the year. Maximum size of 12 meters. Maximum depth from sea level - 17 meters. It 'was described by a geomorphological and now has been chosen for a pilot study of characterization of communities typical of the Salento caves. Has the floor in places silty, colonized by small Cerianti Arachnanthus oligopodus dozens. About 5 m from the entrance to the cave, is distinguish polyps yellow daisies (sea Parazoanthus axinellae) and pink or brown color of the thalli of calcareous algae. A 5 to 15 m from the substrate is bombarded by an expanse of yellow stars (leptopsammia pruvoti). Very typical of the population of sponges Agelas oroides abundant on all sides of the tract to 15 to 35 m from the entrance, with individuals high on the substrate up to 30 cm. At the end of the cave in the stretch from 35 to 49 m from the bedrock is dominated by polychaetes tubicoli (Serpullidae).

SNORKELING
